Adventures in Garage Damage!

I hope you can read this date writ into the garage cement in commemoration:
May 4, 1939!
We think this house and garage was built from a Sears-type kit,
which could explain some of the weirdnesses we've discovered
over the years...

Here's what the massive tree did to the garage foundation wall, and also
take a gander at the carpenter ant damage to the sill...oy!

best to concentrate on fall's gorgeous tableaux rather
than fuss about the excavation of the tree stump;  see just below for visual

Stumped

egads, there goes the almost 2-ton stump....revealing a trashed and old
garage foundation wall....pandora's box is now open for business...

20-year Tree vs. Garage battle reaches final round...

...see below, as I reach for a hanky.

For God's sake, let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the deaths of...trees

This tall tall tree [I think it's an elm] is pushing over the garage.  I have been informed many times over the years that it has to go, but only
because it's either the garage or the tree.  Now that the cracks in the garage can no longer be ignored, I've been forced to call the tree feller fellow.  I'm very sorry to do this,
not just for the tree's sake, but for this Clueless Gardener's sake.  This tree alone has made
it possible for me to weed, plant and pick flowers in
my flower bed in the shade after about 2 pm in summer.  My partial-
shade is leaving me, and the garden is in for a big shock.  I am
already in shock.
